ROLLING BOUNTY FARM

GROW - TASTE - CONNECT

MISSION

Our mission is to grow food sustainably that tastes fresh and connects the community to a local food source.

ABOUT THE FARMER

Hi, I'm Ann Gilman — the farmer, founder, and owner-operator of Rolling Bounty Farm. I have my hands in every part of this business, from the soil to the spreadsheet. I started the farm in 2019 as a tenant farmer on leased land, and I'm currently negotiating a long-term lease to become the successional farmer of this property. Before launching the farm, I studied at The Evergreen State College in their Practice of Organic Farming program — an experience that confirmed what I already suspected: growing food and helping change our broken food systems is my life's work.

I came to farming through the restaurant world. For years I worked front of house and tended bar, and that was where I fell in love with food — the flavors, the creativity, and the way a shared meal builds community. Learning to taste and balance food professionally led me to start cooking seriously at home, and the more I cooked, the more I noticed how disconnected and broken our larger food systems had become. That awareness turned into curiosity, and curiosity turned into action. I chose South Kitsap for the farm because it's beautiful, well-located to serve multiple communities, and not yet oversaturated with small farms — there was room here for what I wanted to build.

There's a moment that never gets old: watching life sprout from a seed and knowing that by caring for that tiny thing through to maturity, wIll feed a family real, local, healthy food. It's mind-blowing every single time. My favorite mornings start with arriving at the farm as the sun comes up through the tree line — dew on the grass, birds in the background, the property quiet before the day begins. Then the crew arrives, music goes on, and together we make this whole dream exist. The work is hard, but it's gratifying in a way nothing else has ever been for me. I'm not meant to work indoors. I need to get dirty, grow things, and be outside.

What keeps me going on the hard days is the joy on people's faces when they receive food we grew for them. This farm has changed my life — mind, body, and soul — and it's introduced me to some of the most generous, supportive people I've ever known. It's taught me that human connection matters more than almost anything, and that when a community works together, we can build something real.

If there's one thing I'd want you to take from all this: we've lost our connection to where food comes from, and we can take it back. Find a local farm. Take a tour. Join a CSA. Learn how things grow, learn how to cook them, and pay attention to the politics shaping our food. Buy from small grocers, co-ops, and farmers markets when you can. That's how we rebuild — one meal, one farm, one community at a time.

If you see me at the farmers market or on the farm, please come say hi. I'd love to meet you.

ABOUT THE FARM

Rolling Bounty Farm is a woman-owned and operated micro-farm in South Kitsap County, WA. We are an operation active in planting and cultivating fruit, vegetables, and herbs using bio-intensive organic practices. Our farm is dedicated to sustaining life both above and below the soil, cultivating an environment that reflects our unwavering commitment to providing you with healthy, nourishing food.

Our farm is committed to avoiding synthetic chemicals for fertilizing, weed suppression, or pest control. Instead, we focus on sustainable, regenerative farming practices that nurture the land. We implement low-till methods, integrate cover cropping, and enrich the soil with compost meticulously crafted on-site by the landowner to support the natural health of our crops. Crop rotation further enhances soil vitality, while innovative practices such as trap crops, insectary rows, and allowing chickens to graze on plots help regenerate the soil naturally. For rodent control, we rely on our dedicated rat terriers. These practices, along with many other non-invasive methods, help us foster a thriving ecosystem. We value transparency and invite anyone to visit and see firsthand how we farm.

We are committed to providing our high-quality, sustainably grown produce through multiple convenient channels to best serve our community. Our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program offers a direct and personalized way for customers to enjoy fresh, seasonal produce each week. Additionally, we regularly participate in local farmers markets, ensuring that our products are accessible to those who prefer a hands-on shopping experience. For local restaurants and small grocery stores, we supply farm-to-table ingredients that align with their commitment to offering fresh, locally sourced food. By diversifying our distribution methods, we strive to make our produce easily accessible while supporting the local economy and promoting healthy, sustainable eating.
